Compensation: $16-20/hr based on experience with opportunity to advance

Who we are
Little Hippie & Company is an independent woman-artist-owned small business specializing in unique merchandise design and small batch products. With most of our business online, we operate our e-commerce shipping out of our retail storefront in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY, while also supporting diverse wholesale accounts and teams on the road selling our goods at music festivals and concerts. Our store offers a wide array of apparel, home goods, greeting cards and assorted gifts, and we pride ourselves on working with other independent creative businesses. Officially licensed by Grateful Dead since 2004, Little Hippie is well known for creating quality goods beloved by music fans. We promote an energetic, inspired, and productive working environment, where ideas are always welcome. We are passionate about our business, and we are looking to grow our team with associates who will help share our story.

Responsibilities
- Opening and/or closing the shop, as a keyholder, strictly adhering to an opening and closing procedure checklist
- Greeting and receiving customers in a welcoming manner and responding to customers’ questions
- Promoting sales through engagement with customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge and history of the company
- Serving customers by helping them select products and sizes in toddler, youth and adult clothing products
- Providing outstanding customer service in person, on the shop phone and through online communication
- Maintaining and providing online customer service through all sales channels including company email, Amazon Seller Central and Etsy
- Pulling items and packing orders in an organized and protected way to ship out to customers (both retail & wholesale)
- Placing on-demand customer orders and tracking/updating shipments
- Ringing up orders and managing financial transactions (purchases, exchanges & returns) in store through the POS system along with online orders through Shopify/Etsy
- Processing payments by totaling purchases and processing cash, credit and debit cards
- Creating and updating product listings on Shopify, Etsy & Amazon including writing product copy and adding product tags to properly categorize
- Learning how to navigate and use Basecamp, the web-based project management tool, used by owner and store employees
- Taking in-store & white box product photos and editing photos in Lightbox for online product listings and social media
- Adding product and on-model photography to social media and online sales channels
- Submitting products for Grateful Dead licensing approval
- Maintaining accurate inventory through Shopify
- Receiving, examining, and stocking new merchandise
- Organizing back inventory shelves and keeping everything well folded
- Barcoding and/or tagging products and displaying them in an organized and aesthetically pleasing way on the sales floor
- Keeping the sales floor area clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times
- Alerting management of potential security issues
- Providing customer feedback to the store manager and business owner

Routine daily, weekly and monthly store housekeeping/cleaning tasks
Education and experience requirements
- High school diploma required;. Bachelor’s degree or in college preferred.
- Retail experience desired
- General math skills
- Mac/computer proficiency- Dropbox, Google Drive & Docs, Excel, Word
- Proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator a plus
Schedule requirements
- Must be able to work at least one day on weekends
- Must commit to working through the November-December holidays
- Must be comfortable working alone and independently in a store setting
